MASSACHUSETTS SOCIETY OF CPAS SETS PRECIDENT BY MARCHING IN BOSTON PRIDE PARADE
BOSTON—June 8, 2018—The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) today announced that, for the first time, the membership organization will be marching in the Boston Pride Parade on Saturday, June 9 in support of the LGBTQ community.
Stemming from the MSCPA’s diversity and inclusion initiative, participating in the march is one way the MSCPA is working to expand diversity and unite all members within the accounting profession. Accounting firm and MSCPA member EY will be marching alongside the MSCPA and has been integral in organizing this effort.
“For years, we’ve been hearing from our members that increasing diversity is a top priority to stay competitive in the job market and retain the best possible talent at all levels,” said Amy Pitter, MSCPA president and CEO. “Diversity means integrating the voices of people from different races, genders, sexual orientations and creeds to strengthen the profession. Marching in the Boston Pride Parade is just one example of how we are reaching out to support different communities within our profession.”
“EY has been a proud supporter and ally of the LGBT+ community for many years,” said Jane Steinmetz, EY Boston Office Managing Principal. “We look forward to walking alongside MSCPA and other Boston area accounting firms this year, to further show our commitment to making a more inclusive and diverse industry.”
Prior to the parade, the MSCPA will join EY at its Boston office for a celebratory pre-Pride Parade breakfast.
