The course provides a comprehensive, hands-on, pencil pushing understanding of the preparation of both S corporation and partnership/LLC tax returns, along with the underlying laws, regulations, etc. The course uses the basic concepts underlying the two main types of business returns: 1120S and 1065 as building blocks for more complex concepts tax preparers should be aware of. The theoretical concepts get illustrated in comprehensive examples that incorporate the most up-to-date law changes and provisions.
This course qualifies for reimbursement through the state’s Workforce Training Express Fund. Firms/companies with fewer than 50 staff can be reimbursed up to 100% of the cost of training and firms/companies with 50-100 employees can be reimbursed up to 50% of the cost of training. You must register for the course and apply for reimbursement through the Workforce Training Express Fund website a minimum of three weeks prior to the start of the course to be eligible. Eleanor Evans serves on the counsel of Hemenway & Barnes LLP and has over 20 years’ experience representing nonprofit and for-profit organizations in a range of legal, governance and compliance matters. She provides practical advice to private foundations, public charities and other tax-exempt organizations on strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations. Prior to this role, Evans served as general counsel of action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD) and as executive director/general counsel of Community Action Program Legal Services, Inc. (CAPLAW), a nonprofit providing legal assistance to a network of approximately 1,000 human services providers nationwide. Additionally, she is active in the Boston Bar Association and a frequent speaker at nonprofit sector events.
