Early College & Innovation Pathway Programs
The Foundation launched an early college high school pilot academy in partnership with the NAF, Haverhill High School and the University of Massachusetts Lowell in September 2018 and has since expanded to Chicopee High School. The academy is a four-course track that will allow high school students to earn up to 12 college credits at UMass Lowell and other participating colleges and universities. In addition to studying career-focused curriculum and working on collaborative projects, students who join the academy will gain critical career knowledge through a series of work-based learning activities both inside and outside of the classroom. These activities include job shadowing, mock interviews and résumé writing workshops, culminating with a paid internship. The educator training and other startup costs for the pilot program have been fully funded by the MassCPAs Educational Foundation.
To expand these programs, the MassCPAs Educational Foundation committed two $25,000 grants to Middlesex and Bristol Community Colleges for the development of accounting and business-focused innovation pathways at area high schools.
