Dear Hannah,
We continue to hear that
developing staff is key to retaining them, and it’s critical
for these young professionals to learn the business and
communication skills they need to take on leadership roles at
their firms and organizations. Our Emerging
Leaders Summit is the perfect opportunity to build
these skills, and strengthen existing ones, that you need to
take the next step in your career. The Summit
will take place virtually on December 13 and 14 (two
half-days). We have an amazing lineup of speakers (get
a preview here), and you won’t want to miss out! To
register, click here.
I also wanted to remind you of two other ways we can help you
grow your career:
- Get
Involved Webinar: Join MassCPAs’ membership team
on December 9 for a 30-minute dive into our programs,
committees, networking opportunities and roundtables – and
how you can make the most of your membership. Plus, it’s
free! Sign
up here.
- NEW!
Out of State Roundtable: Designed for members who have
moved out of New England and continue to work remotely for
their Massachusetts-based firms/organizations, this new
roundtable is where you can connect with others in the
same boat and ask questions, share stories and be a
sounding board for your peers. Our first meeting will be
on January 7, 2022, and you
can register here. As a reminder, MassCPAs roundtables
and committees are free as part of your member
perks!
MassCPAs is always
looking for feedback on ways we can better serve you. Your
ideas help shape our programs and ensure you get the resources
and information you need to succeed in the profession. If you
have any suggestions, please feel welcome to email me any time.
Lastly, happy Hanukkah to our members who are celebrating -
Chag sameach!

Important Legislative Update
|
ARPA
Bill Passed, Addresses Forgiven 2021 PPP Loans
Today,
the Massachusetts Legislature enacted the $4 billion American
Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) legislation that, among many
important investments and initiatives, makes forgiven 2021
Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and other federal loans
and state-specific grants nontaxable in Massachusetts for all
recipients. We are grateful to the Legislature for their
commitment to supporting MassCPAs’ members and the thousands of
small business clients you represent. The legislation now goes to
Governor Baker, who is expected to sign the bill into law.
Finally, a special thanks to those who contacted their state
legislators to support this important piece of legislation. Your
advocacy has made a difference. To read the bill, click
