CEO Corner

Dear Hannah,
We're off to a busy fall! Our Academic and Career Development team has been having a blast visiting campuses across the state and making students aware of all the benefits and resources that our MSCPA student members receive. We are excited about our upcoming annual MSCPA Career Fair & Graduate School Expo on September 21 at the Marriott in Boston's Copley Square. We have 50 exhibitors, a mix of public accounting firms and graduate schools that are excited to meet students and talk about available opportunities!
This is a great chance for students to meet recruiters from local, regional and international firms as well as reps from colleges/universities with programs that satisfy the 150-credit requirement. It is the premiere accounting career fair in Massachusetts, providing you with an opportunity to network with firms of all sizes.
We receive positive feedback from our member firms each year that they consistently meet quality candidates at this event. Students who pre-register will receive a booklet that outlines all the firms that will be in attendance, as well as service areas and number of openings available at each firm. Please take a moment to register, and thank you to all of our exhibitors for continuing to make this event a success!
I'm also excited to announce that we are hosting a Technology Symposium for you to get up-to-speed on the latest technology advancements that are changing the profession at a rapid rate. Attendees will learn how firms are using these technologies today, and discuss best practices for how they can use them to take their firms to the next level. You don't want to miss this! The Symposium will take place on November 2 in Boston. For more information and to register, click here.
Have a great weekend!

Emergency Regulation (Promulgated 9/11): 830 CMR 58.2.1: Manufacturing Corporation
In response to the international tax provisions included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) passed by Congress earlier this year, the DOR released emergency regulations, in effect as of September 11, that clarifies that income repatriated under Code section 965 and the newly established global intangible low-taxed income (GILTI) provision in Code section 951A are excluded from the fraction, eliminating the possibility of a distortion of a corporation's gross receipts and termination of the corporation's
manufacturing classification. For a copy of the regulation, please click here.

Working Draft TIR 18-XX: Treatment of Deemed Repatriated Income Under General Laws Chapter 63
In response to the international tax provisions included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) passed by Congress earlier this year, the DOR released a draft TIR regarding the treatment of deemed repatriation income under chapter 63 of the Massachusetts General Laws (MGL). The draft establishes the department's view that income repatriated under Section 965, if the code is included in Massachusetts income under chapter 63, as dividend income and therefore is eligible for the 95%
dividends received deduction. To review a copy of the draft, please click here. Comments are due to the DOR by Friday, September 21. If you have feedback that you'd like us to share, please contact Zach Donah at zdonah@mscpaonline.org by next Wednesday, September 19.
