CEO Corner

Dear Hannah,
As you know, Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is a heavy focus this year for the MSCPA as well as several accounting firms and companies. However, for us to all be successful in incorporating it in the workplace, it is imperative that we help fill the accounting pipeline with diverse candidates.
This year, the MSCPA partnered with NABA, Fisher College and Suffolk University to host the Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP), a free one-week, non-residential camp from July 29 – August 2 and from August 5 – August 9 for underrepresented high school students to learn more about the field of accounting and other business-related professions. I am pleased to say that the program was a huge success for the 30 students who attended. They enjoyed the program so much, that seven returned
for the second camp! Students participated in an etiquette lunch, mock interview sessions, panel discussions, firm visits at RSM and Deloitte as well as a trip to The Museum of Science and Fenway Park for a tour and business presentation. For me personally, the highlight of both weeks was judging the case competitions. Meeting and watching these young and intelligent people in action shows that the future of our profession is very bright! To view the photos from Fisher College, click here (download password:

Special thanks to Deloitte and RSM for sponsoring! ACAP is just one initiative of the MSCPA's Educational Foundation, which strives to inspire and support the next generation of CPAs. It is with your support that we can help remove the barriers to enter the accounting profession, while filling firms and companies with qualified, diverse and motivated candidates.
Please click here to donate and to learn more about the Educational Foundation. Alternatively, you can contact Erica DeBiase at 617.303.2403 to make your contribution over the phone or mail a check to the Society, made payable to the MSCPA Educational Foundation.
Have a great weekend!
