CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
If you haven’t yet heard about CPA Evolution, it is time to start listening - and offering your opinion. CPA Evolution will radically change the skillset of young people coming into our profession. The skills gap between what firms want and what students learn is widening as technology plays a broader role in what services we deliver and how we deliver them. That gap was becoming a chasm, which was evident during the tumultuous last few years.
To address the skills gap, CPA Evolution is changing the CPA Exam to include more technology and less technical tax and accounting. There will be three Core sections covering the basics (which will now include technology) and a new Discipline section where Exam takers choose one of the following topics: analysis and reporting, tax planning and compliance or information systems.
What the new CPA Exam will exactly look like
is to be determined, and that’s where you come in.
Over the last several months, the AICPA’s Examinations Team engaged CPA subject matter experts in discussions about potential CPA Exam content. Their insights helped the development of preliminary content for inclusion in each of the Core and Discipline sections. Now it’s time to hear from you.
The AICPA invites you to review the draft Core and Discipline section content and share your feedback by September 7 via this survey. The survey will take about 20-25 minutes to complete and will provide the AICPA with vital feedback to developing the new CPA Exam.
The new CPA Evolution licensure model is going to change the Exam, and ultimately the curriculum and future of accounting. Please take this opportunity to let your voice be heard!
