CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
You know why I love my job? Because I work with the best people in the world. I have seen firms and companies of all sizes step up to provide scholarships for aspiring accountants – this year, thanks to your generosity, we will award $146,500 to some amazing future CPAs. I have seen members step up on the CPA Day of Service to give back to communities through Cradles to Crayons, the Baypath Humane Society, the Forest Park Zoo, Cardz for Kidz and several other organizations. I've also seen folks volunteer
as speakers, as mentors, providing internships and externships and so much more.
This year, during what is probably the most challenging time many of us can remember – trying to keep ourselves and our families safe while providing the best service and advice to our clients who desperately need our help – our members are stepping up to help those in need once more. The MSCPA recently conducted a survey and learned that, of the 51 firms and companies who participated:
- 62% had already given back; and 43% planned to donate more than once; and
- 36% of those who had not donated at the time of the survey were planning to do so.
Of those who had previously donated:
- 70% gave supplies or funds to local hospitals, food banks, state relief funds, restaurants and/or other organizations; and
- 26% are donating their services to help clients affected by COVID-19, particularly as many navigate the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
I hope everyone is hanging in there and can get outside in the beautiful weather this weekend!
Amy Pitter
MSCPA President/CEO
