Dear Hannah,
Today is International Women's Day, a time to celebrate, respect and appreciate women all around the world. On behalf of the MSCPA, I'd like to thank all the amazing women involved in the profession and our Society! We are committed to developing future leaders in accounting and are proud to offer several programs to help women all year long.
The Women in Accounting Committee, co-chaired by Krista Huebner, CPA (EY) and Katie Soule, CPA (Merrill Lynch), is responsible for developing meetings and networking events for women throughout the year. We also recently added women's mentoring circles to provide a confidential space for peer to peer learning, networking and beginning new friendships. After busy season ends, we will expand these circles to other areas of the state. Stay tuned!
Recognizing the achievements of women is important part of our work at the Society, so each year we host the Women to Watch Awards to honor those who are making a difference in their firms/companies, communities and the profession. The awards are presented at our Women's Leadership Summit in the fall, which is an inspiring day filled with inspirational speakers and networking.
In addition to celebrating accomplishments, we are also dedicated to helping move future leaders through the pipeline. I'm thrilled to announce that in May, we will award five Women in Accounting scholarships to deserving accounting students in Massachusetts! These scholarships are funded through proceeds from our Women's Golf Outing. Thank you to everyone who participated and made these scholarships possible!
None of these events or programs would happen without your support. Thank you to all our members for your contributions and ideas! While we have a long way to go, there is much to celebrate today.
Have a great weekend!
Amy Pitter
MSCPA President/CEO
