CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
I finally read
The Boston Globe's riveting series on the fate of valedictorians from Boston public schools. The story of these valedictorians is one of wasted potential; kids we thought would set the world on fire as high school seniors haven't come close to realizing their dreams, as many faltered in college or after. They lacked adequate preparation, mentors and advocates.
This series reiterated the importance of guiding and advocating for college students, which is integral to their success as adults. At the MSCPA, we are committed to helping accounting students thrive in their careers by preparing them to enter the profession. While we have a team dedicated to supporting the next generation of CPAs, and a robust lineup of college and career readiness programs and scholarship opportunities, we are always looking for other ways to help. We are exploring adding a mentorship program for low income college students and young professionals. This program will expand our efforts to fuel the accounting pipeline and bring qualified and diverse talent to accounting firms and businesses across the state. We owe it to ourselves, and to these kids who deserve to have their potential realized, and not wasted. To get involved
with this mentorship program, please contact me at apitter@mscpaonline.org.
Have a great weekend!
