CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
Happy New Year! I hope your 2019 is off to a wonderful beginning. For many members in public accounting, the start of a new year is a sign that busy season is just around the corner, and I want to remind you that the MSCPA is here to help.
We've been working with the Department of Revenue (DOR) over the last year to help make this tax season run smoothly for both you and your clients. The DOR has taken measures to reduce the number of tax notices that will be sent to taxpayers this filing season and will only send notices when necessary. They also added a new contact email for tax professionals (taxprofeedback@dor.state.ma.us) to report any problems or if you have questions regarding updates on issues. Please also note that you can report problems to Zach Donah at the MSCPA (zdonah@mscpaonline.org) and we will work directly with the DOR and you to resolve them.
Later this month, the MSCPA will host our State Tax Conference to help you get all the latest information before busy season. We're covering tax reform, federal trends, cryptocurrencies, DOR updates and much more. The conference will be held on January 17 in Westborough, or you can participate via webcast. For details and to register, visit our website. You can also visit the AICPA's Resource Center for more information about tax reform.
Throughout tax season, we'll be offering webinars on various tax topics, so you can quickly access the information you need to serve clients. We also encourage you to post on the HUB to get advice from your peers.
Lastly, I'm excited to announce that we'll again appear on NECN's "Tax Tuesday" segments, starting at the end of January and running through mid-April. This is a great opportunity to promote the value of CPAs and their expertise, so be on the lookout for these broadcasts in the coming weeks!
As always, we are here for you and welcome your feedback on how we can improve your member experience. I look forward to working with you in the year ahead!
