CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
Happy Friday! I am writing to you today from Newport Beach, California, where I have been this week attending our annual midwinter meeting with the CEOs of other state societies throughout the country. Naturally, the highlight of the meeting was a candid conversation with Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, president and CEO of the AICPA and CEO of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, who heavily focused on CPA evolution, sharing how we can continue to retain top talent while
providing them with the essential skills they need to adapt to the rapidly changing profession. He also discussed why we must focus on the future of assurance and stressed the importance of growing the assurance and attest functions to include systems and controls.
At the meeting, we also heard from Sheri Jacobs, president and CEO of the Avenue M Group, who gave an in-depth presentation on the countless ways our members are changing and how state societies need to re-evaluate the benefits we offer to make sure that we are continuing to address those changes. She will be helping us establish a new strategic plan after tax season and we are so excited to continue sharing the initiatives we organize in the year ahead.
We'll also be bringing a stellar line up of speakers to our annual Nonprofit Conference on January 23 in Westborough who will cover cybersecurity, tax reform, reporting, governance, political activity and much more! To see who's already registered, click here. Can't join us in person? We're also offering a broadcast session so you can tune in from the comfort of your own home or office!
I also wanted to remind you that our popular small firm roundtables return next week in eight locations! This is a great opportunity to discuss challenges and ideas with peers in your area. See below for details.
Have a great weekend! Amy Pitter
