CEO Corner
|
Dear Hannah,
Good afternoon! I hope you all were able to literally weather the storm this week! I am writing to you as we wrap up notes from our annual board retreat. In addition to talking about priorities and goals for next year, we all took some time to reflect on the craziness that was 2020. Everyone agreed that if there was one bright spot to the year, it was that it helped us gain perspective, to not sweat the small stuff and to focus on the things that really mattered. What matters to us at the Society
is you, our members. I hope you all feel like we helped you in some way this year, that we advocated for you, delivered the information and education you need and provided opportunities to grow your networks and your careers. If there are ways you would like to see us help more, please reach out to me with any ideas.
As the year wraps up, so does the illustrious 44-year career of our beloved COO, Beth Lyons. It is a very bittersweet moment for the Society, as Beth will trade in her desk and computer for some much-deserved time with her family, friends and golf clubs. I will miss Beth every day as a co-worker, but even more so as a dear friend. Although an in-person farewell would be much better, this gives us all the more reason to reunite in 2021! Beths big shoes will be filled with our incoming COO, Kara Kieran,
starting January 1, and I am so excited to begin the next chapter of our working relationship together!
I want to thank you for your support of the Society and for your friendship. I wish each and every one of you wonderful holidays where you at least get to Zoom with family and friends and a very happy and healthy new year.
See you in 2021!
Please note: The MSCPA office will be closed December 25 January 1 for the holidays. The next issue of Friday@Five will be on January 8, 2021.

| NEWBURG & COMPANY LLP, Waltham, announced that the firm will relocate to 95 Sawyer Road, Suite 120, Waltham, MA 02453, as of December 21.
TD BANK, Boston, announced that in collaboration with Raising A Reader Massachusetts and local Black-owned bookstore, Frugal Bookstore, they distributed 250 books to Boston-area children and their families to help close the literacy opportunity gap in the state. The distributed books feature diverse and inclusive content that allows book recipients to see themselves in the stories' characters, which is especially important for children who are not used to seeing themselves in this way.
