CEO Corner

Dear Hannah,

Greetings from my home office! This afternoon we wrapped up our successful 2020 New England Practice Management (MAP) Virtual Conference. While I missed hanging out with all of you and wandering through the halls to greet friends old and new, it was wonderful to connect this week from our homes and offices across the state.

More than 100 firm leaders, emerging leaders and firm operations staff joined the event to hear from experts in the accounting industry. Conversations centered around the pandemic, of course, and how you can continue to run your firms successfully and efficiently, while providing the services your clients need and continuing to connect with and support your staff.

This conference was developed by the MSCPA’s Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) Committee, and I’d like to thank them, our wonderful sponsors and Society staff for pivoting to this virtual format and providing a conference full of stellar content and networking opportunities. I was pleased to see so many of you take part in the roundtables and networking events, allowing you to continue to connect and learn from colleagues in this virtual environment. You can learn more about the MAP Committee here

We received positive responses from attendees on so many of the sessions, including Jennifer Wilson talking about building culture in a remote environment, John Higgins showing attendees how to leverage Microsoft Office 365 and Teams and Jina Etienne discussing how firms can jump-start their diversity and inclusion journeys. To continue any conversations or discussions you had at MAP, you can pick up right where you left off in The HUB at any time!

We are all looking forward to meeting again in-person, but the MSCPA is committed to continuing to provide you strong virtual content throughout this pandemic (and post-pandemic too). We encourage you to continue to take advantage of this programming.

I want to remind everyone that we are currently conducting our MSCPA 2020 Member Needs Assessment Study. The deadline to submit your survey is this Monday, November 23, so please take 10 minutes or so to fill it out. Your feedback is critical as we continue to provide you resources and programs that are relevant and beneficial to you and the profession. In appreciation of your participation, you will have an opportunity to enter a drawing for a chance to win one of 10 $50 Amazon gift cards. There are only a few days left, so we’d love to hear from more of you!

Next week’s Friday@Five will be sent out on Wednesday, before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Talk to you then!

Have a great weekend!
