CEO Corner

Dear Hannah,

You may not see us, but your MSCPA CPE team is hard at work on some of our most popular conferences of the year. The 2020 New England Practice Management (MAP) Virtual Conference is on for next week, and while I’m disappointed that we won’t be having a drink (or two) together, we’re still going to have all the great speakers and timely topics you need and expect from us. We’ve learned a lot since March about what makes a great virtual experience, and you will see it all on display in a very innovative virtual MAP. I think one of the most exciting innovations this year is the addition of emerging leaders and firm operations team tracks. Leadership teams know that these groups are critical to their success, and it will be great for them all to learn together. Our CPE season rounds up with Virtual Federal Tax Camp, State Tax Virtual Conference and Nonprofit Virtual Conference. I hope to see you all there!

This has been a challenging CPE season for us as we worked to understand how to leverage, rather than be limited by, the virtual landscape and how to make sure that our members have a different, but still great, educational experience. Much of the reason we have been able to succeed for you has been the support of our sponsors. The value they get from their sponsorships is really the opportunity to meet our members face to face. Nevertheless, many of them have stuck with us this year to support us and to support you, and we are truly grateful to them. In addition to their financial support, they have been providing free and timely webinars on topics of importance to our members. The series will continue in the new year, so keep an eye out for what’s new in January.

By the way, if you haven’t had a chance yet, please take a look at our November SumNews. In addition to loads of great content, there is also a tribute to Beth Lyons, our beloved COO and executive vice president who is retiring next month after 44 years. We wish her all the best.

Have a great weekend!
