Dear Hannah:

I’ve used this space before to remind you that the Mass DOR will unveil its new software, MassTaxConnect (MTC) for Business on November 30. We are working with the DOR to give you the most up-to-date information about the system. To date, we have created the following opportunities for you to learn about the changes that are just around the corner:

SumNews – Five MSCPA members demoed MTC this summer. Their feedback will be featured in the November issue – be on the lookout!

Video Watch this informative 15 minute video just released from the DOR.

Live Demos – We are scheduling live MTC demos with opportunities for Q&A. The demos will take place at meetings of the MSCPA Small Firms Committee and State Tax Committee (date/time is TBD). The DOR is open to more demos, so please let me know if you are interested.

Also on the DOR front, the Taxpayer Advocate will do a regular column in SumNews that we are calling “Ask the Advocate.” If you have questions about DOR policies and procedures, in general or as they have applied to your clients or business, send them to me or Elizabeth Emanuelson and we’ll get them to the Advocate. Obviously, this is not the place to talk about one specific case, except as it illustrates a more general concern.

We are always looking to team with the DOR in ways that benefit you – we’ll keep you posted on these opportunities as they arise.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Amy A. Pitter
President & CEO
