Dear Hannah: This week, the Society hosted 21 local high school juniors and seniors from Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (CAMP), a
week-long program that exposes minority students in Massachusetts to accounting and business careers before high school graduation.
I had the pleasure of welcoming the students to the Society –
It was exciting to connect with this robust young group as they embarked on an event-filled day of learning. A panel of MSCPA members spoke to the
students about the ins and outs of working in the profession. Panelists included Karla Enright of Sharkansky LLP, Rick Gulman, CPA of DiCicco Gulman
& Company LLP, Yvener Petit, CPA of EY and Tak Tang, CPA of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. The students also enjoyed a private tour
of Fenway Park, listened to a presentation from the accounting manager of the Red Sox and toured of the Boston office of KPMG.
On behalf of the Society, I’d like to thank all of our members who
helped make this day a great success! CAMP and programs like it are an important part of the work the Society does to help us "sustain the
brand." If you'd like to get involved in our high school or college outreach programs, please contact Barbara Iannoni or Chris O'Day.
