CEO CORNER
Dear
Hannah,
I’m excited to announce the MSCPA will be partnering with the AICPA to offer a
3-day program to high school teachers to enable them to teach a higher-level accounting course. Created by Dr. Dan Deines, CPA, of Kansas State
University, the Accounting Pilot & Bridge Project (APBP) training will be held on August 7-9 at Suffolk University. The end goal is to attract
high-performing students to fuel the accounting pipeline and ultimately gain College Board approval for Advanced Placement status. By including the
APBP as a course elective, high schools will:
• Attract high-performing students who currently do not enroll in accounting courses;
• Create an innovative course that is challenging, rigorous and more reflective of the current state of
the profession; and • Provide students with
the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to make informed business and personal finance decisions.
There are 31 educators signed up for the training, including
teachers from these Massachusetts towns. Many are paying for
their meals and lodging out-of-pocket and we’re hoping to provide them with a $300 stipend to defray costs. If you would like to contribute,
please click here.
For more information about APBP, watch this video.
Have a great weekend!
