Dear Hannah,
This week I had the pleasure of welcoming a talented and diverse group of high school students during C.A.M.P. (Careers in Management Professions). C.A.M.P. is a one-week residential program for high school students exploring careers in accounting and business. It’s coordinated by UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Management and co-sponsored by the MSCPA and EY, as well as Rick Gulman, CPA, partner and co-founder of DiCicco, Gulman & Company, and his wife Susan; Scott and Melissa Kaplowitch; and Mark and Margery Piercey.
On Wednesday, the students spent the day in Boston, listening to a panel of MSCPA members at EY’s beautiful conference center, and then touring Fenway Park and hearing from the CFO of the Red Sox, Tim Zue. The students asked insightful and thought-provoking questions, and they were eager to learn about all the opportunities within the profession! Next week, we will cohost a non-residential Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) for high school students at Fisher College. The program will feature a case competition where teams develop and present business cases for new entrepreneurial ventures. Meeting and watching these young people in action shows that the future of our profession is very bright!
Both C.A.M.P. and ACAP are initiatives of the MSCPA’s Educational Foundation, which strives to inspire and support the next generation of CPAs. To learn more about the Educational Foundation and its initiatives, click here.
Have a great weekend!
