Dear Hannah,
The pace of change will never be as slow as it is today. That’s the key takeaway from the AICPA’s Interchange Conference, which was held in Arizona this week. The conference brings together teams from state societies across the country for a week of learning about the changes happening in accounting, and discussions on how we can help our members navigate the road ahead. Several MSCPA staff attended to learn about trends and best practices, and to network with folks who share our goal of providing the best possible member experience.
One of the highlights of Interchange was a presentation from AICPA CEO Barry Melancon who spoke about technology and the rate it’s changing the profession. In fact, according to a survey conducted by the McKinsey Global Institute, by 2030, up to 375,000,000 people may need to switch occupations or learn new skills to adapt to the new digital world. As an organization, it’s our job to help prepare the profession for these changes, including cognitive computing, robotics, advanced analytics, cloud technology and blockchain, just to name a few. We’re offering several webinars on these topics, and I am also visiting members at their offices to discuss this in greater detail. Please contact me or Kara Kieran at kkieran@mscpaonline.org to schedule a visit.
Have a great weekend!
