Friday@Five has arrived!

CEO CORNER

Dear Hannah,

We’re hearing from more and more firms that staffing continues to be a top issue – and not just in Massachusetts. According to the AICPA,
finding qualified staff was the number one issue for every firm size except sole practitioners last year. To help firms connect with high potential, entry-level candidates and interns, the MSCPA is publishing the 2018-19 MSCPA Firm Guide, which will be distributed to approximately 2,500 college students and career centers across New England this fall.

I strongly encourage firms to consider joining the Guide as a way to attract talent outside of your normal recruiting efforts. We consistently hear from students that the Guide is their go-to resource when looking for employment, and the online version is one of the most downloaded files on our website. It also allows you to market your firm in your own words and tell students what sets your firm apart from your competitors.

To join the Guide,
click here. The cost is $400, and the deadline to register is Friday, July 13. If your firm was in last year’s Guide and you’d like to see your listing, please contact Erica DeBiase at edebiase@mscpaonline.org. Please note that you must complete a new form this year to be listed in the 2018-19 MSCPA Firm Guide.

The MSCPA is committed to helping our firms address this challenge, and we are always open to your feedback on ways to better serve you. Please feel welcome to contact me any time at
apitter@mscpaonline.org

Have a great weekend!

Non-CPAs and the ABV Credential
We have been hearing from our members about the extension of the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential to non-CPAs. We want you to know that we have been in touch with the AICPA in addressing this matter. Within the next few weeks, the AICPA will provide additional resources on this evolving valuation market, including a webcast with their explanation on how extending eligibility to the ABV will help elevate the entire valuation profession and individuals working in this space. In the meantime, for more information on the new pathway, check out these ABV FAQs.
