Dear Hannah,
One of the most important things we do at the Society is to help fuel the pipeline to the accounting profession with high potential, diverse and enthusiastic young people. Many of these aspiring accountants have much to overcome on their way to a successful career. Some need to believe that accounting could be right for them, others need support to study and sit for the Exam, and many need financial assistance to ease their path through college. I’m thrilled to announce that as of this year, we’ve awarded over $1 million in scholarships to worthy accounting students since 2006! Thank you to the firms, companies and individuals who donated to our Educational Foundation and are making a difference in your profession!
Students received their awards at our Believers and Achievers Scholarship Reception, which was held last week at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. The evening was fantastic and filled with wonderful young people and their proud parents, and representatives from our sponsoring firms who had the opportunity to network with these promising young people. To view the photo gallery, click here (to download photos, use password: believers).
This event was particularly special because it was the last one for the creator of the scholarship program, and our dear friend, Barbara Iannoni. After 20 years at the MSCPA, Barb is retiring – and today is her last day. We will miss her terribly and are grateful for all she has done for the Society and the accounting profession. In her honor, we established the Barbara Iannoni Scholarship – if you’d like to contribute to the scholarship, please click here. Thank you, Barb, and thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated and helped us reach $1 million!
Have a great weekend!
