If your CPA license is up for renewal this year, then you should be aware that the Board of Public Accountancy is going paperless. Beginning in June, you will be required to renew or apply for a CPA license online via the new Division of Professional Licensure (DPL) ePLACE portal. The notice that you receive includes a 10-digit authorization code that links your license to your ePLACE account. For more information on ePLACE and instructions on how to create your account, visit mscpaonline.org/eplaceportal.

For MSCPA members, reporting your CPE credits to the Board is easy. The ePLACE renewal application will prompt you to confirm your 80 hours and provide the option to manually enter the courses. If you use the MSCPA’s CPE Tracker, there is no need to enter them this way. Instead, you can export your CPE credits from the Tracker to a PDF and upload the page at the end of your renewal. Simply enter 80 hours into the form, and then upload your PDF at the end of the application. All MSCPA members have a CPE Tracker that stores courses taken through the MSCPA, and allows you to input courses taken with other providers. To view your Tracker, visit mscpaonline.org/tracker.

Professional Issues Update - Last Chance to Register! (5/10)

Massachusetts Equal Pay Act: What Employers Need to Know (5/14)

The Massachusetts Equal Pay Act goes into effect on July 1, 2018. It calls for all Massachusetts employers, irrespective of size, to pay men and women the same for comparable work. The law imposes strict liability; even if one believes in good faith that they are compliant but are not, one is liable for damages under the bill as enacted. Find out what this means for you, your practices and your clients in this session.

Ethics: Giving Voice to Values (5/15)

Giving Voice to Values (GVV) is a process for teaching individuals how to develop a strategy and use scripts to successfully address a values-based challenge. Everyone has ethical standards and a process to identify ethical violations. GVV is a post decision making process that starts after someone realizes there is a problem by creating an action oriented strategy to resolve the situation.

Young Professional Networking with the FPA, BEPC, and the Trusts and Estates Consortium - Last Chance to Register! (6/5)

We've teamed up with the Financial Planning Association NexGen group, the Boston Estate Planning Council and the Trusts and Estates Consortium groups to host the second annual networking event for members under 40. Meet some of Boston's best up-and-coming CPAs, estate planning attorneys, financial planners and other experts. Registration for this event closes on Monday, May 7.

Membership Night at the Red Sox (6/6)

Join the MSCPA on Wednesday, June 6 to watch the Red Sox vs. the Detroit Tigers. A pre-game gathering will be held at the Baseball Tavern (a buffet and open bar will be provided) from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. This is a members-only event. Please note that you can only register four members per transaction. Tickets are limited and in the Right Field Grandstand.

Pre-March Boston PRIDE Parade Breakfast at EY (6/9)

In an effort to connect the accounting profession in Massachusetts, the MSCPA is proud to invite you to EY's Boston office for a celebratory pre-PRIDE Parade breakfast! The MSCPA and EY are actively working with the parade organizers to position the accounting firms together in the parade line up. Please contact Zach Donah if your firm plans to march.
