CEO CORNER
Dear
Hannah,
I just returned from the
AICPA Spring Council Meeting and our discussions focused on change and the pace of change. According to Barry Melancon, the profession will be
unrecognizable in under a decade. The drivers are technology, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence. Frankly, it’s a revolution in
terms of the skills the next generation will need and where they will get them. There is no question that we will all need to become more adaptable
and open to change.
To move in that
direction, we must address the changes that firms and companies are facing right now, including how to create a diverse and inclusive workplace. The
National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) has partnered with RSM to offer a workshop on this topic on June 1. You can register here. I hope to see many of you there!
Some things in the profession will
never change, and that includes recognizing excellence. Congratulations to Eliot Lurier and Kevin Rhodes who were
named 2017 BBJ CFO of the Year Honorees! You are true role models for others in the profession.
Happy Memorial Day! Have a great weekend!
