Dear Hannah:
It’s a busy time at the Society! We met with Senate President Stan Rosenberg
yesterday to share our thoughts on issues of importance to the profession and your clients. This was a great opportunity to offer you, our members, as
a resource to the legislature and to enhance our relationship with one of the Commonwealth’s most influential leaders.
Last week, we hosted an event for high school students where they
previewed accounting careers and learned about the services CPAs provide. The event was covered by iBerkshires, and you can read about it here. We also provided tips to the Lowell
Sun on what small business owners should know to succeed. A special thanks to Carla McCall, Mark Nichols,
Richard O'Connor, Dan Gaudet and Dean Jacobus for their expert advice. You can read the full article here.
There’s no slowing us down in the week ahead. I’m heading to
the AICPA’s Spring Council Meeting this weekend, where I’ll meet with other state society leaders to discuss the top issues facing our
members, and how we can better serve you. I’m excited to engage with this group, and I’ll report next week on my top takeaways. Also, next
Friday, the MSCPA will host our first Employee Benefit Plan
Conference in Framingham. Brought to you by the MSCPA ERISA Committee, this conference is packed with the latest information from the Department
of Labor and IRS with updates on fiduciary responsibility, retirement plan issues and more! I hope to see you there. We will also be offering the
conference on a webcast, for those who can't be there in person. Sign up here.
With so much happening outside of the office, I want to stay connected with you. I’ll
be tweeting and posting on LinkedIn - find me on Twitter at @amypitter and on LinkedIn.
Have a great
weekend!

CEO
