CEO CORNER

Dear Hannah,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a retreat with our Board of Directors and Society leadership. We discussed our strengths and challenges, and how we can better serve all of our members. As I looked around EY’s beautiful conference room, I was struck by the diversity on our board: we have board members from industry, small firms, big 4 firms and mid-sized firms, and each person carries a unique voice that represents his or her sector of our membership. It was an inspiring day, I look forward to sharing our new initiatives with you soon.

One area we will continue to focus on this year is fueling the accounting pipeline. I’m thrilled to announce that this year, the Society surpassed our fundraising goal of $125,000 and we will award $127,500 in scholarships to accounting students next week at our Believers and Achievers Recognition Reception! Thank you to our contributors for your support!

Happy Mother's Day! Have a great weekend!

Several changes to the rules and regulations governing the accounting profession, approved by the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy last year, will take effect on Friday, May 19. The MSCPA was intimately involved in the process and, thanks to many of you, pushed for several changes to make the profession more accessible, while maintaining critical public protection components. Once approved, the new regulations will update Exam requirements, college credit transferability, licensing criteria and CPE credit segmentation.
