At the MSCPA, we strive to provide the best networking and peer-to-peer learning for our members. This week, we hosted two After Tax Season Bash parties – one at Hopsters in the Seaport for young professionals (click here to view the photo gallery and use password yptax to download) and one at Lattitude in West Springfield for Western Mass. members (click here to view the photo gallery and use password western to download). I’m also thrilled to announce that in May we will begin a series of roundtables – one for small firms and one for those who work for or specialize in nonprofits. Speaking of networking, I hope you'll join us next week at our Annual Meeting and Networking Reception – the Society’s networking event of the year! The event will be held next Thursday, May 3 at the New England Aquarium IMAX Theatre. Enjoy cocktails and appetizers on Boston’s waterfront and hear a special keynote from Jay Wessland, vice president and chief technology officer of the Boston Celtics. Professional Issues Update (5/10)

MSCPA President/CEO Amy Pitter will draw on her extensive professional insights and experience to address the issues at the forefront of accounting. Pitter will tap into larger-scale issues affecting the industry, including staffing, globalization and technology and discuss what firm leaders should start doing now to get ahead of impending changes and reach new success.

Massachusetts Equal Pay Act: What Employers Need to Know (5/14)

The Massachusetts Equal Pay Act goes into effect on July 1, 2018. It calls for all Massachusetts employers, irrespective of size, to pay men and women the same for comparable work. The law imposes strict liability; even if one believes in good faith that they are compliant but are not, one is liable for damages under the bill as enacted. Find out what this means for you, your practices and your clients in this session.

CPAs in Business Summit (5/16)

We’re covering all the hot topics to get you ready to take your business to the top. One of our sessions features the vice president and CFO of the Boston Red Sox who will discuss the business of baseball, and the current use of technology in the finance department of New England’s favorite baseball team. Young Professional Networking with the FPA, BEPC, and the Trusts and Estates Consortium (6/5)

We've teamed up with the Financial Planning Association NexGen group, the Boston Estate Planning Council and the Trusts and Estates Consortium groups to host the second annual networking event for members under 40. Meet some of Boston's best up-and-coming CPAs, estate planning attorneys, financial planners and other experts.

Women's Golf Outing and Golf Clinic (6/12)

Enjoy a day of golf and networking at Juniper Hill Golf Course. Play 9-holes with your colleagues, family and/or friends - women of all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged.
