CEO MESSAGE
Dear
Hannah,
I’d like to recognize two MSCPA members
for their contributions to the MSCPA this tax season. Mark Nichols, CPA, MBA, MST and Kate Seekell,
CPA, MST gave tax tips to NECN viewers, as part of the Society’s partnership with the network. Not only did they provide expert
advice, but they also represented the integrity, expertise and strong reputation of CPAs in Massachusetts. Thank you both so much!
The final segment appeared on Tuesday, featuring tips for late
filers with Mark. You can view it here.
Speaking of late filers, there’s been some confusion about
filing an extension when no payment is required. According to the DOR, no action is needed to request an extension if there is a zero balance. Save
yourself some time and effort, as MassTaxConnect will not accept an extension payment of zero and paper extension forms submitted without payment will
not be processed. If you’ve been in
the trenches of tax season, I wish you rest and relaxation in the weeks ahead. Also, if you’re running the Boston Marathon on Monday, I hope you
have a great race!
