Dear Hannah,
Are you trying to figure out how to recruit and retain a more diverse workforce? Please join us as the Society hosts
"4 Steps to Implement Workplace Diversity", a breakfast for firm leaders and diversity leaders on October 18 at EY's Boston office.
We'll discuss strategies for executing successful diversity plans, and break into small working groups so you can dive into the topics that matter the
most to you. These topics include: recruiting outside the box, sponsorships, working with professional organizations and starting a D&I committee
in your office. Following the breakfast, you'll
return to your office with a list of action items you can implement immediately. You can register here or feel free to email me at apitter@mscpaonline.org or call me at 617.556.4000 if you have any questions. I hope to see you there!
Lastly, the Society will be closed on Monday,
October 11 in observance of Columbus Day. Have a
great weekend! Amy A. Pitter

LAST CHANCE: Take the Revenue
Analysis Survey!
The MSCPA launched a survey earlier this year to
gauge current and anticipated taxpayer behavior in an effort to assist the DOR in better predicting monthly revenue collections. Thanks to many of
you, our first edition was a success. Please help us again by
taking the survey here.
September Revenue Collections Total $2.7 Billion
The DOR announced this week that September tax collections came in $26 million above the monthly benchmark, in part due
to large withholdings and better than anticipated corporate taxes. Despite gains in September, year-to-date collections remain $71 million below the
Fiscal Year 2017 benchmark.
Public Hearing on Proposed Public Accountancy Regulations
The Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy has submitted a series of changes to
the rules and regulations governing the accounting profession. The MSCPA worked with the Board for over a year to develop the series of changes, a
summary of which can be found here. The Board will hold a final
public hearing on Friday, October 14, to consider the proposed amendments.
