Dear Elizabeth:
It's hard to believe that I’m wrapping up my first month at the Society. It’s been an exciting month, and I’m looking forward
to what lies ahead. One of the things I'm eager to do this summer is to meet with members to talk about the strategic plan, my thoughts on priorities
and get lots and lots of feedback. In talking
with some of you over the last month, I’ve started to get a sense of the challenges our members are facing. The number one issue I've heard so
far is talent. How do we recruit and retain the best and brightest; where is the next generation coming from; and how do we introduce greater levels
of diversity and inclusion into our ranks? This plays directly into our "sustaining the brand" goal in the strategic plan. One of my top
priorities is to work with the subcommittee, the staff and other members to develop specific initiatives that will make progress on this goal.
I’ve also noticed that you, our members,
are the hardest working, most dedicated professionals I’ve ever met. It inspires me to look for new ways the Society can serve you, whether it's
creating convenient access to the information, tools and content you need to help your clients; ways we can use the purchasing power of the group to
help you rein in costs; or advocating for you and your clients to simplify life however we can. So I'll keep listening and learning. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you next month at the firm
visits and at some of our great events, including the Women's Golf
Outing. Hope to see you there!
