Editorial to Overhaul MA Estate Tax
|
MassCPAs President & CEO, Amy Pitter, was recently featured in a Boston Globe
editorial arguing for a long-overdue update to the MA estate tax code. The editorial referenced legislation that would, in part, increase the tax exemption threshold from $1 million to $2.75 million per person and ensures that only the value of the estate above that amount is taxed, not the entire estate.
We have been longtime supporters of such legislation and plan to submit testimony in support of
House bill 2881,
An Act relative to the Massachusetts estate tax code,
once a hearing is scheduled for later in this legislative session.
We will update you with more information as we receive it.
