Each year, I look forward
to announcing the winners of our Women to Watch Awards, but I
must add this year’s judging panel really had their work cut
out for them. We received a record number of applications as
well as the strongest candidates ever. This is truly an
extraordinary group of women who have contributed to their
profession, firms/companies and communities in many significant
ways. It was also incredible to see how many of them are
leaders at MassCPAs – as Firm Ambassadors, Committee members
and chairs and as contributors to SumNews.
Emerging Leaders (fewer
than 15 years in the profession):
Kayla Ducharme, CPA, KPMG
LLP
Marni Kaufman, CPA, CFE, ABV, Floyd Advisory LLC
Madison Litwin, CPA, MBA, MST, KLR
Ashley Meehan, CPA, MSA, CohnReznick
LLP
Experienced Leaders (15
or more years in the profession):
Janine Danielson, CPA, LGA,
LLP
Nicole Florian-Theriaque, CPA, MSA, Wolf & Company, P.C.
The winners will be
presented with their awards in-person at the 2022
Women’s Leadership Summit at the Westin
Hotel in Waltham on Tuesday, October 25. At this event, we will
also present Merrill
Puopolo, CPA, CGMA, managing director at CBIZ & MHM, with
MassCPAs’ Lifetime Achievement Award. It is not
an exaggeration to say the Society and our programs for women
would not be the same without Merrill. She was a founder and a
leader of our Women in Accounting Committee, and the Women to
Watch Awards and Summit were her idea and thrived under her
leadership. Merrill was also one of the first people I met at
the Society, and she has become a close friend and someone whom
I respect and admire without limit.

All CPAs – Share Your “Why”
As part
of MassCPAs' efforts to attract the next generation of CPAs to
the profession, we are seeking members to share their
"why" - why you became a CPA and why you remain one.
We are looking to highlight the career and personal benefits
that only come with having this designation. Please take this one-question survey to tell
us your “why.” We will share responses with high school and
college students, and feature them on our social media,
throughout the fall.
